Cybersecurity Certification Program
A free, needs-based pathway to industry certification. Paired with a mentor, start to finish.
The Von Terra Project's Cybersecurity Certification Program (P1) removes the financial and accessibility barriers that keep capable people out of the cybersecurity workforce. Every candidate is paired with a mentor and a structured roadmap, from application through their first industry credential. At no cost.
Every candidate starts with CompTIA Security+. Department of Defense Directive 8140, Cyberspace Workforce Management, superseded the earlier DoD 8570 issuance. It requires DoD cyber workforce personnel to qualify against the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF). Security+ satisfies foundational DCWF qualification requirements, making it the most direct on-ramp into roles touching critical infrastructure, incident response, and intelligence/analyst work: exactly the outcomes VTP's Lines of Effort are built to produce.
The Candidate Journey
How Candidates Are Selected
Weighted Intake Scoring
Applications are scored out of 100 points across three weighted categories, so the program prioritizes candidates facing the greatest financial and social need.
No Minimum Score
Each cohort is assessed against available funds versus the number of applicants, not a cutoff. Candidates not selected roll forward to the next cohort's list.
Two Cohorts a Year
New cohorts begin every April and October. Selected candidates have 10 business days to confirm before an alternate is contacted.
Apply
Applications are reviewed each cohort cycle. There's no cost to apply, and no cost to participate. VTP sponsors the exam voucher and study materials for every selected candidate.
