Nefertiti Stokes is a community builder, strategist, and advocate whose career reflects a deep commitment to justice, equity, and the transformation of systems that have historically failed marginalized communities. As part of the Von Terra Project, she brings a unique blend of lived experience, professional insight, and fierce compassion to everything she touches.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Nefertiti’s early life instilled in her a strong sense of purpose and resilience. Her journey into public service began with a passion for people; Especially those often excluded from conversations that shape their own futures. Over the years, she has worked across sectors including housing, youth development, workforce programs, and public health, always centering those most impacted by systemic inequities.
Nefertiti’s superpower lies in her ability to bridge seemingly disconnected worlds. She is as comfortable facilitating government roundtables as she is holding space for community engagements. Her leadership is rooted in empathy and clarity, and she has an exceptional talent for translating complex policies into human-centered solutions. Whether she’s working to ensure youth have access to safe spaces or advocating for culturally competent mental health services, she brings a grounded, authentic presence to every room.
At the Von Terra Project, Nefertiti contributes to the cultural and community engagement strategy, ensuring that every initiative reflects the values of inclusion, dignity, and interconnection. She believes deeply that land, people, and legacy are entwined—and that true regeneration must consider not just sustainability, but healing. Her role is to help make sure Von Terra’s work is rooted in community wisdom and shaped by the people it’s meant to serve.
In her personal life, Nefertiti is reflective and growth-oriented. She’s currently exploring what it means to pivot—personally and professionally—toward alignment, joy, and rest. This intentionality shapes her leadership style: calm, honest, and grounded in values. She often says that transformation starts with truth, and she lives by that principle.
Nefertiti is a mentor and movement-minded leader. Her presence on the Von Terra team strengthens its vision to create spaces that nourish people and the planet. With Nefertiti, transformation isn’t just a goal—it’s a practice, carried out with care, creativity, and a relentless belief in what’s possible.

Passion & Mission
Nefertiti believes that when Black girls and women are nurtured and empowered, communities flourish. Her mission is to create intentional spaces of growth, affirmation, and opportunity; Especially for those who are often left out of traditional support systems. She mentors with purpose, curates programs with healing in mind, and envisions a future where Black women lead, thrive, and shape the narrative.
